It's a boy!

"It's a boy!"- I cheered, having heard the news about the Royal Baby earlier today.

Kate and her bump have been in the news for quite some time - lots of discussions at work, on facebook, twitter. Of course, it's international news!  But for many British people I think it is more than that. Kate and William represent the future of the British monarchy and they are the role models for the young Brits.

I remember back in April 2011, many of us celebrated Kate and William wedding - lot's of street parties, neighbours getting together to watch the ceremony and to celebrate.

Here is how Royal Wedding street party looked in Great Chesterford:

(I did the balloons :)

Two years later the Prince of Cambridge is born :) Congratulations to Kate and William!!

I'll start with "why"

One day I woke up with a burning desire to start writing a blog. Partly, because I've learned about certain advantages of being involved in a blogging community, so would like to explore it for myself, partly, because my Mum writes a blog and I enjoy reading hers, so maybe a few people will enjoy reading mine :)

Knowing me, this may not last long, as many of my hobbies tend to change regularly. But let's see, I hope this will be the one to stay with me for a long time!

I did some research about blogging and realised I need to give my blog a name, and the name should have a clue about the content of my blog.

So I decided to call it "Life in the UK".  Obviously because I live in the UK, but also, since I was born in Belarus, I may bring a different perspective to it. I think I tend to appreciate certain things more than others, things that some may take for granted.

So this blog will be mainly about why...

... and also about life and my adventures in the Misty Albion (as my Gran poetically calls my second homeland :)
